We all love brownies, but we prefer them being in the from of chocolate. Sorry to break your heart, but in this recipe their is no chocolate, however, we do have a chocolate substitute in the form of whey protein and cacao which can help convince you that you are having real chocolate.

Another secret, great tasting and healthy ingredient we are going to add is goji berries! Researchers suggest that goji berries can help improve mental well-being as well (1) as promote a feeling of calmness, which is why this is the perfect recipe for your wife or girlfriend – kidding (2).

More studies suggests that goji berries can help increase athletic performance and quality of sleep, and according to a new study it can also help prevent the flu, which is ideal for this coming winter (3).

And a last but not least benefit of goji berries is the fact that they might even help to prevent cancer according to a Chinese study conducted back in 1994 (4).

So, give your digestive system a break and your immune system a boost with this delicious goji berry brownie recipe!


  • 1 Large avocado – NB ripe, soft to the touch (you won’t believe how great this tastes)
  • 3 to 5 Tablespoons hazelnut syrup or raw honey (adjust to your preference)
  • 1/4 Cup cacao powder
  • 1 Serving of the protein powder of your choice for an optional protein boost
  • 2 Teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 Generous dash of cinnamon for taste
  • 1 Pinch of sea salt


Dried or fresh red fruits such as goji berries or raspberries
Place your choice of nuts into a food processor and process until it has the consistency of soil.
Add cacao powder and pinch of sea salt
Process again for a few seconds until combined.
Add dates and process again until the dates have distributed evenly throughout the nut mixture.
Add coconut butter or coconut oil and process again until combined.
Spoon mixture into a bowl.
Add 1 – 2 tablespoons water – just enough so that the mixture sticks together when squeezed together.
Press into a square tray lined with baking paper.
Make the frosting (no need to clean the food processor in-between these steps) by combining the avocado, honey, 1/4 cup cacao powder, vanilla, cinnamon and salt in the food processor and blend until mousse-like. Spread mixture over the top of the pressed brownie layer.
Refrigerate for 2 hours to set and then cut into small portions. Serve topped with your choice of berries for garnish and enjoy!
